When someone criticizes you, maybe try listening to them instead of spewing out stock excuses for why you don't want to try to improve.
I can't draw very well-- hell, I can't draw worth shit. But at least I don't try to disguise it with "but it's my style!" and I try to listen when people give me criticism.
