In Defense of Sonic OCs

Read this, I know this subject is inexplicably sensitive.
I'm also thinking that giving them 0.1% may be a bit generous...

I know first-hand-- when Sonic OCs are bad, they're BAD. Laughably, mockably, DeviantArtSnark-worthy bad. You've got your green sonics and your "sexy" things and your big musclebound monstrosities and your "What does this have to do with Sonic besides the spikes and eye style?" characters, and your mary sues out the fucking wazoo. And that's not even touching the fetishists...
When Sonic OCs are bad, they're undoubtedly some of the worst OCs out there, and a lot, a LOT, of people with Sonic OCs seem to have the art skills of five-year-olds.

But there are a handful of well-thought-out, well-designed Sonic OCs that don't break canon too badly. I swear. While the vast, vast, VAST majority are laughable, a character doesn't suck just on the basis of being a Sonic OC... though it probably does.
_{I don't think my own OC (Mako) qualifies, but I have had people who hate Sonic OCs say they like him. They're not ALL badly-designed MS paint sonic recolours, I swear!}
